A young Muhammadiyah cadre from Indonesia named Muhamad Fauzan, 28 years old, has succeeded in realizing his dream of being able to directly visit the holy land of Mecca without having to wait in long queues.
The dream of being able to visit the Kaaba has existed since he was young. After graduating from MTs, he continued to SMK. Then stay at the Al Madinah hut in Yogyakarta for 2 years to memorize the Qur'an. This is where his determination to go to Mecca came from. Efforts to achieve his dream were carried out by registering online for schools in Saudi Arabia, to no avail. His failure did not dampen his enthusiasm to be able to visit God's house in person. Almost every day he said a prayer and began to save diligently which was intended to realize his determination.
After staying at Al Madinah hut for 2 years, with a scholarship he got through the lodge, he continued his studies at the Islamic College of Makassar majoring in Arabic. Four years of successful completion of undergraduate studies. After graduating from college, they are required to do community service or at Islamic boarding schools. And Kediri became his choice to carry out these obligations. While serving a period of 1 year, Fauzan continued his postgraduate study at UIN Malang which was taken by motorbike to and from Kediri Malang.
One day, Fauzan saw two people from Gorontalo who were cycling a long distance. The idea arose to get to the holy land of Mecca and Medina by bicycle. "If that person is able to pedal a bicycle for long distances, why can't I?" he thought. He began to learn to ride a bicycle borrowed from his neighbor. At first he took a distance of 50 km and took an uphill road, but on the way home he was unable to continue the journey, so he asked his wife to pick him up on a motorbike. In the next exercise which was carried out for approximately 2 weeks, everything went smoothly.
After the preparation for cycling was deemed capable, he began to carry out his intention to travel to Mecca by pedaling a bicycle. Starting from Magelang on November 4, 2021. After going through several areas such as Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, Sumatra, Jambi and having dropped off at Bakahuni when getting off the ship, we arrived at the Batam crossing.
His friend from Gorontalo reported that he is currently unable to go to Singapore due to the pandemic, but Fauzan thinks that he must see the reality on the ground for himself. It turned out that it was true that they arrived in Batam on January 20, 2022 and had to wait until April 1, 2022 to enter Singapore. As long as it is used to go to the islands around the chili to survive to find funds. He sells herbal products and also brings cupping equipment. Where the knowledge and skills of cupping have been possessed since the Pondok Al Madinah, Jogjakarta.
On April 1, Singapore began to open without quarantine, only attaching the results of the antigen. While in Singapore, the local Muhammadiyah association welcomed and facilitated a 3 day stay. Next is to continue the journey to Malaysia. Been in Malaysia for almost 2 weeks and coincided with the moment of Eid. Actually, when he entered Malaysia, he arrived in Thailand together with 2 people from Gorontalo who became his inspiration to go on a pilgrimage by bicycle, but at the end of Thailand Fauzan already got a Saudi visa, while his friend still didn't get it. Finally he continued his journey and arrived at Riyadl on May 26, 2022.
Fauzan's arrival in Saudi Arabia was welcomed by the Head of the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) of Saudi Arabia. PCIM then accompanied him to hold a number of meetings with various agencies including the Indonesian Ambassador Abdul Aziz Ahmad and the Deputy Head of Indonesian Representative Arief Hidayat. During the meeting, Fauzan told about his motivation for cycling to Saudi Arabia was his strong desire to perform Hajj. Fauzan arrives in Jeddah and interviews Saudi TV on 8 June 2022.
Such is the story of Fauzan's journey which is full of challenges and risks, but with the intention of being accompanied by prayer and a strong effort to make something that might be considered impossible to happen, with the power of Allah SWT everything becomes possible, according to the Arabic expression Man Jadda Wa Jada, which It means that whoever is serious will surely succeed
